My husband's aunt gave us a gift certificate for a restaurant we have never heard of before, on High Street, Millville (Glasstown), NJ. We have been wanting to go check it out for a couple of months now but didn't get to do it until last Saturday. It's called the Wildflower Cafe -- in Glasstown.
I did not know Millville has a block they call the "Art District". It's pretty cool, you walk around this tiny block with tiny shops and cafe's. I guess you can say only an artist would appreciate the abstract look of this place, if you know what I mean. (Wink). There's paintings and arts on the wall that are for sale too. And some fabric materials that looked like tiny banners hanging on the walls -- I read that it's some kind of prayer.
This Cafe is almost hidden behind a little shop, we almost missed it but we turned around and drove by it and then we found it. It's funny because when I saw it I thought the business has closed. It was around 11AM and they just opened. My first impression was, the place looked artsy, with some artistic clutter going on... LOL. We walked in and there was no one at the register, then a guy came out greeted us and said they had a band playing the night before so he's late opening up. (Later on while paying up we found out he is the owner of the cafe). The place looked very home-like. I kind of whispered to my husband that it would probably take an artist to appreciate the decor going on. We just called it abstract or artistic clutter -- you know when nothing matches, kind of? Artists' lounge. He even had a 12 string guitar ready for anyone who would like to just play while waiting for food, that is cool.
This is not the cleanest place for me, but I think it's just because he wasn't ready to have people yet and a little tired from the night before. So, I didn't mind it that much.
Onto the food now...
This is a vegan place -- so the certificate says. Going to this place, we did not know what to expect because 1- we have not been to this place before, 2- we didn't even know what "vegan" means, but we went anyway, vegetables can't hurt you. We both ordered wraps. I mean, WRAPS! These were huge wraps made with wheat tortilla and filled with fresh veggies which I will show a picture of in a few. I loved what I got, it was delicious and so healthy. I only ate half my wrap and was so full. I had a large cup of organic coffee (I assumed there was going to be no free refills because he asked if I wanted small, medium or large. They had raw brown sugar, stevia sweetener, all that healthy stuff. Overall, we had a very very good experience and will be going back for sure, the price is not expensive at all considering the amount of vegetables the wraps were stuffed with.
I still don't know what the difference is between and vegan and a vegetarian, I probably will be bing-ing it after I get done with this post. :)
Photos I took in the cafe, hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading!
