We spent a weekend in Lancaster County, PA to watch the sight and sound musical of Noah with some relatives of my husband. The Sight and Sound theater is huge! And for the record, this was the very first live musical I have seen. We drove from NJ to Lancaster, PA for about 2 hours with a couple WaWa stops. (If you are not familiar with WaWa it is my favorite gasoline station in NJ and PA -- mainly because of their coffee LOL. I enjoy bathroom and coffee stops).
So we had dinner at the Hershey Farm Restaurant, everyone except my husband opted for the Smorgasbord (all you can eat buffet). And headed to the Sight and Sound theater which is like less than 5 minutes away from the restaurant by foot. It is kind of steep going up though, so I don't recommend you do what we did if you don't like walking or not used to walking. My husband's aunts didn't like the walking uphill too much, but they survived, burned a little bit of calories from the dinner.
The musical is very very nicely done. Very well choreographed. And their voices, Oh so beautiful. Great actors, great singers. I enjoyed it very much. They used real live animals and puppets. I don't want to spoil it for you so I just want to say, it is very a very nice musical.
At the beginning of the show they have a little disclaimer that some things are not actually in the Bible but are intentionally added for entertainment purposes. I have to say I was expecting some things to be added, they went a little too far. So when you are with your kids, you want to explain to them or go through the scripture passages of Noah and explain that some things in the musical did not actually happen, they were added to make it entertaining.
And too, if your kids are allergic to animals, make sure you bring something for the allergies with you in the theater. My husband's little cousin has bad allergies, I heard him sniffling while the show was going on but didn't think anything of it, but when the first half of the show was done, we looked and his eyes were swollen shot. Poor thing. So make sure you have your allergy meds with you or a mask maybe would help.
In the theater you are not allowed to take any photos, so I don't have anything to show. Any electronic devices should be turned off when the show starts.
The next day, my husband and his spontaneous self decided to drive to Wolf's Hollow County Park. We drove for while and saw some beautiful things on the way. And when we finally got to the park, I was wondering why I didn't see a lot of people like how parks are usually filled with families on a picnic or just playing. We found out for ourselves after walking for 3 hours that it is not the park we pictured it to be. It is a park for hikers. If you love long hikes, this is for you. Although we did not expect it and were not dressed for it, we would still like to walk the whole trail again. I think it's about 7 or 8 miles to walk the whole park.
Here are some pictures of the walk, I hope you enjoy it and give you an idea of how beautiful this place is.
